A Parisian Fairytale: A Timeless Mother–Daughter Princess Escape

There are few places on earth as enchanting as Paris, the city that celebrates beauty, grace, and love at every turn. But when experienced through the eyes of a mother and daughter, the City of Light becomes pure magic — a living fairytale.

For my daughter, Malia’s, seventh birthday, we took a four-day yet timeless journey through Paris. From chocolate tastings and couture museums to royal palaces and a spa morning, every moment celebrated connection, splendor, and joy.

Day 1: A Gentle Beginning — Spa Serenity & Sweet Indulgence

Our adventure began at Relais Christine, a hidden gem in Saint-Germain-des-Prés that feels more like a private residence than a hotel. After settling in, we eased into Parisian rhythm with a massage at the Dior Spa at the Cheval Blanc Hotel, where even relaxation feels couture. The tranquil, rose-scented rooms and signature treatments embody the refined elegance of the Dior legacy.

Next, Malia and I set out to discover Saint-Germain-des-Prés through its most decadent lens: a private chocolate tasting tour. Hand in hand, we wandered cobblestoned streets with our expert guide who introduced us to master chocolatiers and the art of French “bonbons.” Between sips of espresso and bites of artisanal confections, we uncovered the stories of the writers, artists, and dreamers who made this neighborhood the beating heart of Parisian culture.

As the sun dipped low, we boarded our private Seine River cruise, champagne in my hand, to watch the city glow in gold. From Notre-Dame to the Eiffel Tower, every moment felt cinematic — a mother-daughter memory we will cherish forever.

Day 2: Couture Dreams & Timeless Elegance

Paris is synonymous with fashion, and on our second day we stepped directly into its world. The day began at Galerie Dior, where we traced the evolution of one of fashion’s most legendary houses. Malia and I admired the gowns, sketches, and inspirations that defined elegance for generations, with my daughter imagining herself dressed in the finest of “princess dresses.”

Then, our private guide led us through the Palais Garnier, the opulent opera house that inspired The Phantom of the Opera. Beneath its chandeliers and Chagall-painted ceiling, it was impossible not to feel like royalty.

To end the day, we indulged in afternoon tea at The Ritz Paris, where every detail, from the fine china to the perfectly crafted pastries, whispers sophistication. This is teatime reimagined as a Parisian ritual, and we savored every minute. 

Day 3: A Royal Day at Versailles

Just beyond the city lies Versailles, where history, art, and grandeur unite in spectacular, gilded form. With our private guide and chauffeured car, we were able to bypass the crowds and step directly into the world of kings and queens.

We explored the Hall of Mirrors–our favorite–and strolled the immaculate gardens, where Malia’s imagination ran wild with tales of Marie Antoinette and the Sun King come to life. Versailles isn’t just a palace, but a reminder that every girl deserves her moment to feel like royalty.

Day 4: Capturing the Magic

On our final day, we celebrated our Parisian adventure with a private mother-daughter photoshoot, twirling beneath the Eiffel Tower. Our photographer was able to capture the laughter, tenderness, and love that define our bond and imprinted images that will forever remind us of this special time together. 

Over lunch at Girafe, with sweeping views of the Eiffel Tower behind us, we toasted to the birthday girl. And then ended our fairytale with an evening at Le Grand Véfour, one of Paris’ oldest and most storied restaurants, and a setting worthy of a final royal dinner.
