What does it cost to work with Alpenglow? We are typically paid a commission by hotels, cruises, and tour operators. For straightforward hotel bookings when you already have an idea what you’d like to book, we don't charge a fee to make the reservation on your behalf. We are typically able to secure added benefits, (like room upgrades, free daily breakfast, resort credit, etc.), in addition to the best rate, so it's a win-win for you! We do, however, charge a modest planning fee for trips that involve more extensive upfront research, multiple quotes, or itineraries with more involved logistics and planning services (i.e. tours, transportation, reservations, etc.). Our fee structure varies depending on the scope of your trip. We will send you our fee structure when we conduct our initial consultation call once we have a better understanding of your trip goals. Our fees reflect the time, care, and expertise we bring to each trip. We’re a high-touch agency, and we put a lot of heart into our work.

What are some general budget guidelines? It depends on the trip. If it's just a hotel booking, that's as straightforward and easy as indicating where you want to stay. By contrast, a full-service trip with five star hotels, daily guides and activities, and some meals typically runs between $800-$1,000 per person, per day. From there, we can adjust different levers to accommodate budget ranges, such as a mix between 5 and 4 star hotels, free days with no pre-booked activities, or self-drive vs. driver-and-guide options. Also bear in mind that certain destinations, such as Japan and Africa, tend to be more expensive, whereas others such as Cambodia, Bali, or Myanmar, are easier to work with lower budgets. Our niche, and where we’re able to provide the most meaningful extra-benefits to our clients, is luxury travel (with hotels that are typically upwards of $500+/nt and custom itineraries starting at $10,000 per week per couple). We can also assist with private vacation homes and villas, but we are not able to book Airbnbs or Vrbos. Some small inns or bed-and-breakfasts may also not be the best fit for our agency.

Why use a travel advisor?Your time is valuable. You can spend countless hours navigating reviews, hotel websites, and scrolling Instagram and TikTok for ideas, or you can work with a trusted resource to craft a custom trip that fits your vision and cuts through the noise. We can help you navigate questions such as, "When is the best time of year to travel to Japan?," "Which rooms at the Four Seasons Papagayo are the best for families?," "How rough are the seas in Antarctica's Drake Passage, really?" You'll also benefit from the vendor and hotel relationships we've developed over our careers. Through the Virtuoso network and many other exclusive partnerships, we can secure perks for your bookings such as free breakfast, upgrades depending on availability, late checkout, or spa credits, depending on the property. We have a wealth of knowledge and connections from our own travels and years working in this industry that allows us to provide personalized recommendations. Let us save you time and stress, and give you an incredible experience to cherish.

Can we book flights? While we don't personally book airfare, we work with affiliated Air Partners that can assist with First or Business class tickets, as well as Private Flights. This service includes reservation management and if anything goes wrong, we’ll handle all the logistics and save you the frustration. Additional ticketing fees apply to these services. The airline world is complex, you may want to use your miles or points on a flight, and it’s usually better for travelers to be in direct contact with airlines for flexibility and support.
