Where You Stay

Claridge's, on the corner of Brook Street and Davies Street in Mayfair, has been the address of choice for royalty, heads of state, and discerning travellers since 1898. It is not the kind of hotel that announces itself. The Grade II–listed Art Deco building presents a quietly confident facade; inside, the mosaic floors, the black-and-white foyer, and the discreet hum of service communicate everything that needs communicating.

Your suite faces Davies Street or Brook Street depending on availability at booking. The rooms are large by London standards — genuinely large — and the bathroom runs to Asprey fittings and deep soaking tubs. Breakfast is served in The Foyer & Reading Room, where afternoon tea has been a Claridge's institution for over a century.

On your second afternoon, before heading to the grounds, tea in The Foyer is the right call: finger sandwiches, warm scones, clotted cream, and a selection of house pastries arrive on a tiered stand while the room fills with the particular low hum of London in July.

At The Championships

Your private transfer departs the hotel each morning at 10:30 AM for the 35–45 minute drive to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in SW19. The journey itself marks the shift — Mayfair to Wimbledon Village, the quiet residential roads, the first glimpse of the green signage outside the club.

Debenture ticket holders enter through a separate entrance and have exclusive access to the Debenture Seat Holders' Lounge, where champagne, lunch, and light refreshments are included. The seats themselves are in the 200-level of Centre Court — close enough to read the players' expressions between points, high enough to hold the geometry of the whole court in a single glance.

The retractable roof over Centre Court ensures play continues regardless of what the English summer decides to do. Strawberries and cream from the queue outside Murray Mound are, if you choose them, a sensory checkpoint: they taste like the tournament.

Three evenings are yours to shape. Your advisor will have arranged dinner reservations and West End tickets in advance; Claridge's Restaurant — currently under chef Coalin Finn, a graduate of Inverlochy Castle and Sketch — takes Friday evening, with the option of the private kitchen chef's table for parties of up to 14. The menu runs to classically inspired British dishes with French technique: expect tableside presentations, a 41-page wine list, and a confidence in saucing that places it among the more serious kitchens in Mayfair.

Thursday evening is reserved for a West End production, chosen based on your preferences when you book. The St. Martin's Theatre, the Donmar Warehouse in Covent Garden, or the Savoy Theatre — your advisor will book seats and arrange a pre-theatre dinner at a nearby restaurant, timed properly.

Sunday evening, after the Gentlemen's Final, is open. Some clients prefer an early dinner at Claridge's Bar with a classic martini and a view of the room. Others book a late table at the Wolseley, five minutes on foot, which stays open through the evening and is exactly the right place to decompress after a fortnight of tennis.
